Resumen
OBJETIVO: Este estudio evaluó las propiedades psicométricas del cuestionario revisado de motivos de consumo de alcohol versión abreviada (DMQ-R SF), instrumento con evidencia internacional que mide motivos de consumo del alcohol: mejora, social, afrontamiento y conformidad. MÉTODO: Una muestra no probabilística de 376 participantes (67.6% mujeres; edad media 30.8 años) completaron el DMQ-R SF, la versión abreviada de las Escalas de Depresión, Ansiedad y Estrés (DASS-21) y medidas de autorreporte de consumo de alcohol. RESULTADOS: La estructura tetra-factorial del DMQ-R SF mostró una confiabilidad adecuada. No obstante, no fue invariante entre jóvenes y adultos. Malestar emocional se asoció solo con motivo de afrontamiento en jóvenes. El motivo social se asoció longitudinalmente con consumo intenso de alcohol en jóvenes y el motivo de mejora se relacionó con consumo reciente en adultos. CONCLUSIONES: El DMQ-R SF presentó evidencias de validez estructural y confiabilidad, no es invariante entre jóvenes y adultos, mostró asociaciones concurrentes con malestar emocional en jóvenes y presentó evidencias de validez predictiva con el consumo de alcohol en jóvenes y adultos. La información entregada por el DMQ-R SF puede contribuir al diseño de estrategias de prevención y de tratamiento del consumo de alcohol.
